CRA Vacancy Market – 15th September 2014

Each week CK Clinical tries to give you a picture of the state of the CRA jobs market in the UK.  Whether you are a CRA looking for a new role or an employer seeking new CRAs to join your team, keeping up to date with industry news that impacts you is essential as the pharmaceutical jobs market in the UK moves incredibly fast.

Our tracking is based on each week screening some of the UKs leading vacancy boards for how many CRA jobs have been advertised within the last 7 days.  As always, there is likely to be some repetition across jobs boards and some duplicate posting but our goal is to build up a picture of trends over time.

This week’s summary for week commencing the 8th September 2014 relates to CRA vacancies posted on:

  • Pharmiweb
  • Willey job network
  • Access Science jobs.

Our results showed that on these job boards a total of 533 CRA jobs were published in the last week, compared to 626 the week before. This is a very sudden 14% drop in vacancies in the past 7 days with:

  • 462 permanent roles 
  • 71 contract roles 

With the decrease affecting both permanent and temporary roles in the clinical jobs market, we hope this is just a temporary glitch but we will continue to monitor and update you next week.

Our results showed that on these job boards a total of 626 CRA jobs were published in the last week, compared to 623 the week before. This is a 0.5% increase in the past 7 days, which is a positive sign that the market is gradually recovering from the summer slow down.

  • 546 permanent roles 
  • 80 contract roles 

Permanent jobs have seen the greatest increase with a growth of 2% but this is a positive sign that the clinical jobs market is returning to pre-summer volumes. We will continue to monitor and update you next week.

Senior Statistician – Switzerland

Mylene Paumier at CK Clinical is recruiting for a Senior Statistician to join a global pharmaceutical company at their site based in Switzerland on a permanent basis.

Responsibilities

As Senior Statistician, your responsibilities will include

  • All statistical tasks of individual clinical trials.
  • All statistical tasks on the assigned clinical trials, and perform these tasks with a high level of independence e.g.: clinical trial design/planning, analysis plan, reporting activities including exploratory analyses and additional analyses to support publications, plus statistical consultation during the running phase.
  • May be assigned to lead a small project or parts (e.g. indication) of a project, initially under the guidance of a more experienced statistician, but with increasing autonomy and accountability.
  • Track clinical trial/allocated project activities and milestones.
  • Ensure timeliness and adequate quality for the assigned trials and project tasks.
  • Participate in or lead non-clinical project activities as needed.
  • Establish and maintain sound working relationships and

    effective communication within the Clinical Trial Team/International Clinical Team

Qualifications

As Senior Statistician, you will have the following qualifications, skills and experience:

  • At least Masters Degree in Statistics (or equivalent degree) with experience or PhD with experience.
  • Fluent English (oral or written).
  • Experience in all tasks of a Trial Statistician.
  • Proven knowledge in Statistics and its applications to clinical trials. Proven knowledge of drug development and HA guidelines.
  • Background medical knowledge, preferably in relation to the specific therapeutic area.
  • Proven knowledge of statistical software packages.
  • Good communication and presentation skills. Good team player

Project Statistical Programmer Job in Europe

Priya Mukherjee at CK Clinical is currently recruiting for a Project Statistical Programmer to join a biopharma leader in Europe.

Project Statistical Programmer Job Description:

As Project Statistical Programmer, you will oversee and manage project related activities for statistical programming activities for the defined development program, including assignment as an associate member of the clinical sub-team.

 

In addition, as the primary Global Statistical Programming representative for assigned development program, you’ll interact with, and serve as primary contact source for clinical team(s) and supporting departments (e.g. Regulatory Affairs, Biostatistics, and Data Management).

Within this Project Statistical Programming role, who will act as lead statistical programmer or support programmer with respect to all statistical programming activities at the Senior Statistical Programmer level and serve as primary GSP contact to respond to questions by regulatory authorities.

In addition, you will communicate and collaborate with the Program Biostatistician to ensure that Statistical Analysis Plans, and other analysis requirements, specifications, or derivation rules are consistent within and across individual studies.

 

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

To be considered for this Project Statistical Programmer position, you will have the following qualifications, skills and experience:

  • A Bachelor’s degree (OR Equivalent) in a Scientific discipline
  • Proven Statistical Programming experience within the Biotechnology and/or Pharmaceutical industry, including clinical research organizations.
  • SAS Software Programming skills equivalent to a Senior Statistical Programmer to solve complex programming tasks according to SDTM and ADaM standard and
  • Advanced understanding of Clinical Trials Design and analysis, together with a basic understanding of integrated summaries of efficacy and safety required for regulatory submissions.
  • A high level of analytical ability, exhibiting characteristics that are structured and methodical to ensure that sound, decisions are made.
  • Be able to plan, perform, trouble-shoot and make decisions based on precedent, company policies, international and national regulations and Good Clinical Practice.

Junior Statistical Programmer – Belgium

Responsibilities:

As Junior Statistical Programmer, your responsibilities will include the following:

  • Co-ordinate the creation of analysis dataset specifications in the ADaM standard, if needed
  • Co-ordinate the programming of analysis datasets, using specific SAS macros
  • Co-ordinate the creation of the metadata files (define.xml) using specific SAS macros
  • Ensuring traceability between SDTM and ADaM data
  • Co-ordinate the production of tables, listings & figures
  • Co-ordinate the restructuring, review and integration of external data
  • Co-ordinate the transfer of data according to customer specific requirements
  • Develop adequately documented programs for the generation of randomisation schema/program

Qualifications:

As a Junior Statistical programmer, you will have the following qualifications, skills and experience:

  • Relevant clinical trial SAS experience or a STID diploma and a SAS certification Base at least.
  • Proficient SAS programming skills with mastery of SAS/STAT SAS/BASE, SAS macro language. SAS/GRAPH is a nice to have
  • Capacity to interface with clinicians, statisticians and data managers as statistical programmer in charge of a clinical trial
  • Capacity to work independently or under the guidance of a senior MSD programmer
  • Ability to work complying to the company programming SOPs, data standards and macro library as well as capacity to develop project specific code independently under company SOPs
