Science Park to Create Jobs in Northern Ireland

The BBC has reported that a science park will be built in Londonderry, Northern Ireland.

The science park could create up to 280 jobs and is to be based at Fort George, in Derry, and the Institute of Technology in Letterkenny. Ilex, Londonderry’s urban regeneration company, is set to develop the site.

Ilex chief executive Aideen McGinley has said that the company is in discussion with several investors looking to develop the Fort George site. There are “at least two good leads in terms of local and international interest,” hinting at the site’s potential importance on a global scale. The project will be ‘cross border’ which helps to create an all Ireland presence. It is hoped the development will make the site Ireland’s technological capital.
