As reported by InPharm, the pharmaceutical company, Pfizer, has recently launched an iPhone app. The app has been designed to help doctors make direct queries to Pfizer about their products and to report adverse events.
Pfizer is the first pharmaceutical company to take this step, which has been driven by demand from doctors and clinicians themselves.
The launch of the iPhone app signifies a further step towards e-medicine – with medical decisions being assisted through access to electronic information.
The iPhone app will also be developed to allow doctors to email Pfizer Medical Information about selected Pfizer products.
Speaking of the new innovation, Pfizers chief medical officer, Freda Lewis-Hall stated, “Healthcare providers have told us they would like direct access to our medical specialists so they can communicate with us in an open, unbiased manner. They expect rapid and tailored scientific responses to their medical questions about our drugs. Our hope is that the introduction of this new and innovative feature on Epocrates enables doctors and other providers to enhance the care they can provide to their patients using Pfizer medicines.”
