As reported by Reuters, pharmaceutical company Merck & Co have today announced that it has planned an alliance with Sinopharm Group to market the U.S drug maker’s cervical cancer vaccine in the Chinese market.
The alliance is the first of its kind for Merck and it is hoped the move will boost the company’s presence in China.
Like many of the major pharmaceutical companies, Merck’s sales in emerging markets have been increasing and it is predicted that 25 per cent of it’s pharmaceutical and vaccine sales will come from emerging markets by 2013.
In 2010, Merck already has a 3,000 strong sales force in China which has increased by 90 percent since 2007.
