Senior Scientist

CK Group are currently recruiting for a Senior Scientist to join a mineral-based speciality solutions company at their site based in Cornwall on a full time, permanent basis offering a salary ranging from £40,000-£45,000 per annum

The Group draws on its understanding of applications, technological knowledge and expertise in material science to deliver solutions by beneficiating its mineral resources, synthetic minerals and formulations.

Location: Cornwall

Your main duties will be:

• Managing the Process Development team of Scientists undertaking bench-scale process development and pilot plant support.
• Supporting the development and execution of the Technical Development Programme.
• Providing experimental designs, workflow planning and organisation for bench scale trials.
• Managing the interpretation of data and the technical deliverables of the team..
• Providing technical expertise in process chemistry, laboratory processes, laboratory safety, and analytical methods.
• Overseeing key projects within the Metallurgical Laboratory, ensuring the facility remains capable of delivering the needs of the Technical Development Programme.

Your Background:

The ideal candidate for this role will have the following skills and experience:• Degree level qualification in Chemistry or earth science

• Experience of working in a process laboratory environment, with knowledge of inorganic chemical processes and lithium chemistries
• Knowledge of health & safety standards and COSHH regulations and, ideally, have a vocational health and safety qualification
• Working knowledge of process design for mineral and chemical processes.
• Experience of managing and developing others.
