Respiratory Specialist Research Nurse - London
Russell Oakley is currently recruiting for a Registered Nurse for the position of Respiratory Specialist Research Nurse to work on an ad hoc field based basis.
Our client is currently conducting a trial on Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) and requires a support nurse to help with patient selection and assessment. Although the nurse won't necessarily be performing any protocol-defined procedures, the nurse will be present for study visits at the respiratory imaging centre and know how to support the patients to make them more comfortable and to be there in case a safety event occurs. The reason for the position is to provide nurse support at the imaging centre where a respiratory expert is not normally on hand. Normal clinical sites on the study have an investigator who is an expert in interstitial lung disease plus research nurses on site who are used to looking after patients with IPF. The imaging centre is more like a CRO, with no respiratory consultants or respiratory nurses.
The duties of the Research Nurse will be to meet the patient at one of the hospitals and travels with to the imaging centre, transporting the medication having collected it from the hospital pharmacy. They stay with the patient throughout the procedure offering them support to ensure that they are comfortable etc. and then transfer them back to the hospital for them to then go home.
The role will be ad hoc, working 2-5 days per month with appointments being scheduled 2-4 weeks in advance of the appointment. It is essential that you are able to be flexible as appointments can be reschedules at short notice.
Remuneration- The pay is currently set at £230 per day on a PAYE basis, plus £30.60 per hour for travel time, plus all travel and accommodation expenses.
Location: Although the study is in the London area it is not essential for the Research Nurse to be based in the region as travel and accommodation can be provided for the 2-5 days per month.
