Medical Affairs

The medical affairs department provides clinical and technical information on pharmaceutical or biotechnology organisations products and therapy areas.

Fundamentally serving as the bridge between the industry and its stakeholders via the medical community. This function is uniquely tasked with managing external relationships with the scientific community as well as with patient groups, authorities and beyond.

Responsibilities in this area are very varied but include ensuring the compliance of both promotional and non-promotional materials in accordance with the ABPI and relevant legislation, running investigator-initiated trials, developing relationships with key prescribers and thought leaders. The team also run medical education events, develop publications and provide training internally and externally.

Medical Affairs operates within a matrix environment, effectively linking science and commercial activity. Functions that work closely with medical affairs are Sales and Marketing, Market Access, Clinical Trials, Regulatory Affairs and Pharmacovigilance.
