BioMarin Pharmaceutical to create 100 jobs

As reported by The Manufacturer, following it’s acquisition of Pfizer’s plant in Cork, the US-based biopharmaceutical firm, BioMarin will create 100 jobs.

BioMarin specialises in developing treatments for rare diseases, with much of the work talking place at the Cork plant based around is manufacturing activities tied to results of its ongoing Phase 3 clinical study for N-acetylgalactosamine 6-sulfatase (GALNS). The drug is to be used for the treatment of Mucopolysaccharidosis IVA (MPS IVA, also known as Morquio A Syndrome).

Jean Jacques Bienaime, chief executive officer of BioMarin stated, “The new plant in Shanbally greatly expands our manufacturing capacity to accommodate our growing commercial portfolio and advancing clinical programs.”
